Langley, UK - Galileo, a leading global distribution system (GDS) and subsidiary of Travelport, enjoyed a winning streak last week picking up two prestigious travel technology awards.
The first award, presented at London’s World Travel Market (WTM) – one of the world’s largest travel trade exhibitions – recognised Galileo as best air/hotel/shopping/booking system.
The second award was collected at the distinguished British Travel Awards, voted for by the UK travel trade. At this ceremony, which took place on the final night of the World Travel Market, Galileo once again fought off competition from the other GDSs to collect the award for best travel technology provider.
“This is terrific news and brings further third party credibility to Galileo’s leading edge position in technology, customer focus and service excellence. My praise goes to all the staff who have made winning these awards possible” said Gordon Wilson, president and chief executive officer for Galileo.
These awards coincided with Galileo’s announcement that its industry leading Best Available Rate (BAR) guarantee programme has added its 100th hotel brand. Hotels opting to participate in the BAR programme have seen an increase in their bookings of up to 30%.
The GDS company also announced the launch of new content for its industry leading leisure travel portal, Galileo Leisure. Launched at World Travel Market in 2005, Galileo Leisure has seen a huge take up from Galileo customers who have seen the value in having access to the unique content made available via sister company Gullivers Travel (GTA).
