Award Winning Maritime Travel Renews GDS Contract with Galileo International

Galileo Selected as GDS of Choice by One of “Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies”

Galileo International, Inc., a leading global distribution system (GDS) and subsidiary of Cendant Corp. (NYSE: CD), today announced a three-year contract renewal with one of Canada’s foremost travel management companies, Maritime Travel, which was recently recognized for the seventh consecutive year as one of “Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies” by a national panel of executives from Deloitte, CIBC Commercial Banking, National Post and Queen's School of Business.

Maritime Travel attributes winning the award to its best practices, including attracting and keeping the best people, fostering a team-based environment, extensive training programs, communicating with and listening to their clients, and using leading technology partners such as Galileo in its operations.

“Awards like these would not be possible without our strong partners, dedicated employees and the loyal customers we work with everyday,” said Rob Dexter, CEO, Maritime Travel.  “In particular, our partnership with Galileo provides us with the products and customer service that create a sustainable infrastructure that works for us.  Over the years, Galileo has provided us with the robust content to meet the demands of our varied customer base, and Galileo’s extensive APIs and XML desktop effectively increase our agents’ productivity.”

“It’s customers like Maritime that are a driving force in our efforts to deliver cutting edge solutions that increase the overall efficiency and productivity of our agency customers. Employing Galileo’s suite of solutions including the THOR Hotel Program, Galileo NetFares for consolidator fare comparison shopping and APIs to develop custom applications is testament to Maritime’s forward thinking approach to business that has fueled their success throughout our relationship over the past 20 years,” said Jim Cahill, vice president sales and general manager of Canada, the Americas, Galileo.  “We are proud to have been selected to continue facilitating their distribution needs and look forward to growing our relationship and developing the tools to help them better serve their clients.”

Being named one of “Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies” for the seventh consecutive year has earned Maritime Travel a spot among the 21 elite companies throughout Canada that have been awarded Platinum Club membership this year.  In 2004, Maritime Travel also earned accolades as one of the “50 Best Companies to Work for in Canada” by Globe and Mail's Report on Business Magazine and one of the “Top 100 Companies to Work for” by MacLean's Magazine for the second consecutive year.
