ONLINE CAMPAIGN AND INCENTIVES TO EXPAND AGENTS' KNOWLEDGE OF ASK GALILEO

Langley, UK, 02 October, 2007. Galileo, a leading global distribution system (GDS) and part of Travelport GDS, is launching a campaign across selected European countries* to raise awareness amongst travel agents of its successful ‘Ask Galileo’ knowledge bank. Running over the course of three months, Galileo will invite agents to answer a series of product-related questions with the chance to win a prize every two weeks plus the opportunity to enter for the overall main prize at the end of the campaign.

Marco van Ieperen, general manager Galileo Benelux, commented: “We are delighted to be able to give travel agents the chance to win some fantastic prizes. Our Ask Galileo database should be the first port of call for any agent looking to further their knowledge on Galileo and more and more are now signing up to this service.”

Running from 25 September to 19 November 2007, the campaign will consist of four stages, occurring every two weeks. ‘Ask Galileo’ registered agents will receive an alert at the start of each stage directing them to a dedicated microsite where they can find more information and enter the competition. For each stage, agents will have the opportunity to win a prize by correctly answering two questions – the winner will be drawn randomly at the end of every two week period. By the end of the last stage, if an agent has answered six out of the eight questions correctly, they will be automatically entered into the main prize draw. The prizes are as follows:

Four mini-prizes:

Two night B&B stay for two people in one of the following participating hotels: Sofitel Marseille, Sofitel Lisbon, Sofitel Brussels or any Mercure or Novotel in London

Main prize:

  • Six night holiday for two people at two hotels in Cyprus: Three nights at the Amathus Beach Hotel Limassol, Cyprus followed by three nights at the Paphos Amathos Beach Hotel, Cyprus
  • Includes a gala dinner for two people at each hotel
  • Includes two spa treatments per person in each hotel

Since its launch in September 2006, over 12,000 travel agents across the globe have registered for Ask Galileo.  The online bank of information about Galileo’s products and services has proved so popular amongst agents that the GDS has more than doubled its content since its launch 11 months ago and plans to continue to significantly expand the service over the coming months. With over 3,200 answers in multiple languages available in the database this is increasingly becoming the first port of call for questions relating to the Galileo system.
