IATA Mandate - Transition to Electronic Ticketing

“Simplifying the Business 100% Paperless Ticket”

Dear Travelport GDS Customer,

As you are aware, IATA’s “Simplifying the Business 100% Paperless Ticket” initiative comes into effect on 01 June 2008. As a result, all transactions reported via your respective BSPs will need to be generated electronically.

The purpose of this communication is to bring you up to date with the tools and capabilities you, as a Travelport GDS customer, have at your disposal for managing this critical aspect of your business.

We at Travelport are steadfast in supporting our agency and airline customers with this important industry initiative as we continue developing and enhancing our e-ticketing capabilities, across both our GDS platforms, Galileo and Worldspan.

Travelport GDS has been working hard to ensure that our customers have access to the most efficient tools and functionality for a smooth and seamless transition to e-tickets. Travelport GDS e-Ticket capabilities and performance is well-established worldwide. In March, the combined Travelport e-Ticket figures represented 93.7% of total ticket volume and we now have over 200 carriers e-ticketable in the Travelport system.

More importantly, we are fully committed to keeping you informed with crucial functional and operational information in preparation for the move to 100% e-Tickets. We invite you to take advantage of the Frequently Asked Questions now available via Ask Galileo where you’ll find useful information on items such as the inhibition of paper tickets in the Travelport systems and handling of ticket exchanges, reissues and MCOs. Please access the following link for the latest copies of e-Ticketing customer reference documentation applicable to both Galileo and Worldspan system users.

Finally, IATA is also offering a dedicated emailbox service for use by travel agencies and airlines for help with more general e-Ticketing issues: eticket@iata.org.

We understand the importance of enabling your agency to maintain efficiency while you prepare to meet IATA’s mandatory e-Ticketing deadline and assure you of our best service and support at all times.

Sincerely,

Marco van Ieperen
